Troubled by seeing dependency firsthand he became determined to reach those who struggle with addictions, and believes the power of music and story can do so. With the current crisis of opioids the urgency to reach those struggling has prompted him to share stories to encourage others that they too can write their next chapter in life..and fill it with hope, peace and Love.
WHAT'S YOUR STORY?
Inspired by classic and hard rock songs of trials and triumphs. He believes through music, melody and lyric, hope can appear in our darkest hour, inspire, and change lives like many famous musicians have by opening up and rekindling their faith and hope in God. Who is Love.
The book title was penned by this gentleman for his 19th century poem “The Hound of Heaven.” Thompson’s poetry was revered by writers of that era and for years since. His work inspired and influenced men like G. K. CHESTERTON, J.R.R. TOLKIEN, C. S. LEWIS, and OSCAR WILDE. Playwright EUGENE O'NEILL could recite the lengthy infamous poem by heart Thompson died prematurely destitute, an addict, he was cared for by prostitutes.
“He opens his poem with:
“I fled Him, down the nights and down the days; I fled Him, down the arches of the years; I fled Him down the labyrinthine ways Of my own mind; and in the midst of tears I hid from Him…
Nick Anselmo a new high school graduate, after witnessing a tragedy loses his religion and finds another in sex, drugs and Rock & Roll. As he feeds his dark side he shifts from his innocence into addiction. He now must wrestle with his 'demon' as he works to become a chef in this 1980's journey to adulthood.
An insightful story capturing an era in a fictional memoir.
Listening to the world and every thought that passes through our mind we can drown out our conscious, our hearts good intentions. We are not our thoughts. We all struggle with them, it's how we grow.
Nicks choices, like all of ours, brings him to some pretty dark places. The chapters in our life can't all be wonderful. Tough circumstances come at us all, running from them doesn't help. We hear all the time of people having to check in somewhere to "deal with their demons". It's just another chapter we have to get through.
What chapter of life is hounding you?
I found the darkest scene, song or story life can deliver, can never extinguish the light. In fact light, Love, Spirit, God is often found in our darkest moments.
“The Hound of Heaven Novel” is a story to help shine that light. If even by stark contrast.
"I said to myself ..." Who's talking to who? Which voice do I listen to? That alone should give us pause to step back, be still and choose which is best for us.
When we make mistakes or break the rules and the critical voice of failure, guilt and condemnation usually drowns out the voice of forgiveness, grace and mercy. And if that is focused on it can lead to despair.
WORK TO SERVE ...
Thanks to the Sony Walkman, extremely popular in the early 80's, There wasn't a day without music in Nick's life. Nicks mix came to be through radio, 8 tracks, cassettes and records. From childhood to adulthood music moved him, excited him, condemned him, healed him and freed him. Listening to "Nicks Mix" alone can almost tell you his story.

"I FLED Him, down the nights and down the days; I fled Him, down the arches of the years; I fled Him, down the labyrinthine ways of my own mind; and in the mist of tears I hid from Him...
